The Futurestars charity and Ghana team will be focusing on expanding our volunteering packages for 2022 offering European students the opportunity to travel to Ghana and volunteer in our schools and projects as part of their own development. Sports clubs, universities and colleges will offer the volunteering packages to students to travel as a group and take part in pre and after school sports sessions as well as supporting teachers at the Future Leaders School during the day. Find out more and download the flyer here.
Each student/volunteer will raise their own funds to cover all of their travel and living expenses while they are with us and also make a contribution to the Charity. They will also have an organized visit to Cape Coast with overnight accommodation to give them a better understanding of Ghana and its culture and history. The volunteers will stay in the Brannic Hostel in Accra and be managed by Jordan and King on a daily basis. They will also travel to our partner schools in Tema to work with Emmanuel, Silas and the teaching staff.
Here are a couple of testimonials from student volunteers who have volunteered with us in recent times:
“My Life-Changing Experience in Ghana! As well as working with the children I got the opportunity to explore Ghana and see many of the wonders it has. I was lucky enough to visit the Volta region climbing the highest mountain in Ghana and see one of the most spectacular waterfalls in addition to having monkeys close and personal!” Leo – Football coaching, Teaching
“Akwaaba Volunteers is amazing, I had such a great experience helping coach football in Ghana that I will never forget. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to do volunteer work.” Ben – Football coaching
“What I enjoyed most about working with Jordan and King is that they really give you the full experience with everything. The full Ghana experience, but also the full community experience of the community that they work with. You sign up for one or maybe two projects, but if you want there are so many more possibilities.” Stella – Teaching, Medicine
From the Board of Trustees and the team at Futurestars Charity we wish everyone at OMA a fantastic Christmas and New Year and I look forward to catching up with many of you on my visit to Ghana in early January.
